Tony Guest began his diving adventures while serving with the British Military in Bosnia in 1996. Due to the nature of the operational tour he was unable to complete his certification with BSAC (British Sub-Aqua Club). Fast forward 10 years while on vacation in Hawaii, Tony was able to snorkel above the reefs of Maui but that was not enough for him, he wanted to get down to the reefs and stay there for a while.
On his return to Sacramento Tony found Andy’s Scuba World, a dive store with many great people, instructors, and of course Deco Dan the store security cat. This is where Tony became PADI Open Water (OW) certified in 2007, and followed that up in 2009 by becoming Advanced Open Water (AOW) certified. At this point it was evident that Tony had found a new passion in diving and was so excited and enthusiastic when ever he got in and out of the water. His enthusiasm prompted his wife to discover for herself what all the excitement was about by becoming Open Water certified.
Shortly after his AOW certification, Tony began working in the dive store and generally helping out with anything and everything in the store. It was at this time that he made it known that he wanted to be an instructor so he could pass on his enthusiasm, knowledge, and love for everything scuba. It was a long hard road but he finally achieved his goal and became an Open Water Scuba Instructor.
In association with Sacramento Water Sports (formerly Scuba World) and FishEye Scuba, Tony teaches classes that can take you from never diving before all the way to PADI Dive Master.
When asked what his favorite thing about teaching was he replied, “Seeing the huge smiles and enthusiasm on the faces of my students!”
